Properties and properties of epoxy resin

A variety of resins, curing agents, and modifiers can be used to meet the requirements of almost any type of application, ranging from extremely low viscosity to high melting point solids.

2. Easy to cure. With various curing agents, the epoxy resin system can cure within the temperature range of 0 ~ 180℃.

The existence of polar hydroxyl and ether bond inherent in the molecular chain of epoxy resin makes it have high adhesion to various substances.

4, low contractility. Epoxy resin and curing agent used in the reaction is by direct addition reaction or resin molecules in the ring opening polymerization of epoxy base, there is no water or other volatile by-products release. They are compared with those of unsaturated polyester resin and phenolic resin in the curing process shows low contractility (less than 2%).

5. Mechanical properties: The cured epoxy resin system has excellent mechanical properties.

6. Electrical properties: Cured epoxy resin system is an excellent insulating material with high dielectric properties, surface leakage resistance and arc resistance.

7, chemical stability. Usually, after curing system of epoxy resin has excellent alkali resistance, acid resistance and solvent resistance. Like the other properties of curing epoxy system, chemical stability also depends on the selection of resin and curing agent. Appropriately choosing epoxy resin and curing agent, can make it has special chemical stability.

8. Dimensional stability. The combination of many of these properties gives the epoxy resin system outstanding dimensional stability and durability.

9. Mold resistance. Cured epoxy system is resistant to most molds and can be used under harsh tropical conditions.

The inherent disadvantages of epoxy resin are its poor impact damage resistance, brittle toughness and low heat resistance (less than 170℃).
