Pittsburgh Brewing Co. has teamed up with Alcoa, Inc. to produce what they say is the first 12-ounce aluminum bottle of beer in the U.S.
Alcoa and PB teamed up to develop the first can in 1962, revolutionizing the beer and soft drinks industries.
Now they hope that the aluminum bottles sold nationwide will change the North American beer industry as well.
Starting in August, the new Iron City aluminum bottles are available in retail stores and are now available nationwide.
The specially designed 24-bottle case features Iron City's red logo and features the words "Iron City aluminum beer bottles" flanked by Alcoa logos.
New beer bottles using Alcoa aluminum are made by CCL Container and shipped to wineries in Pittsburgh.
"The PB and Iron City brands have been dedicated to innovation -- from the first can, the first screw-on resealable lid to our new aluminum bottles."
Joseph Piccirilli, VICE President of PB, said, "The aluminum bottle is shatter-proof and keeps the beer cool longer (50 minutes) than glass bottles.
Consumers who took part thought the sleek silver metal looked cool.
