
China will become a "significant" producer of aluminium cans in the future, Paul Williams, head of aluminium research at metals industry analyst CRU, said on Tuesday.
Inventories of Aluminum cans in China are expected to rise to 1.9 million tons in 2019 from 550,000 tons in 2011, he said.
About 800,000 tons of aluminum cans per year are expected to be converted to auto parts by 2020, he said.
He said he expected North American production of aluminium panels for cars to rise to 1 million tonnes in 2019, up from 148,000 tonnes in 2014.
