Advantages of aluminum cans in use

 

With the continuous exploitation of natural resources and the discharge of a large number of abandoned objects, resource crisis and ecological crisis have become important problems that seriously affect and threaten human survival and social development.

Because aluminum cans can be recycled, aluminum cans have obvious advantages over other forms of packaging.


1. Resource advantages brought by recycling aluminum cans.


At present, many foreign countries and regions have a set of relatively mature aluminum cans recycling system, will consume the waste aluminum cans (UBC) after recycling treatment for the production of aluminum cans.

Remelting 1 ton of UBC can save 4 tons of bauxite and 0.7 tons of smelting ingredients, and one aluminum can a day is equivalent to saving half a can of gasoline.

With the annual output of 2.2 billion aluminum cans in China, 44,451 tons of aluminum cans can be recovered.

Aluminum production is an energy-consuming industry, which consumes 16,000 kilowatt hours of electricity to produce a ton of aluminum. In the production cost of aluminum, energy accounts for more than the proportion of raw materials, while BUC consumes only 5% of the energy used to produce aluminum ingots from bauxite. Therefore, recycling not only saves a lot of resources and energy, but also greatly reduces the cost of aluminum cans.


In addition, recycling aluminum cans can also reduce environmental pollution and protect the ecological balance.

The pollution of atmosphere and environment caused by primary aluminum production is quite serious, while the harm of UBC production to environment is very little.

Due to the high recycling value of UBC, the income of recyclers from UBC also increases correspondingly, and the recycling enthusiasm is very good.


The recycling of tin cans for the same purpose is different.

Tinplate is tinplate, the old can recycling remelted can not be copied into tinplate, recycled tinplate can only be used for scrap treatment.

And, as a result of scrap steel prices cheaper, recyclers are reluctant to recycle the cans, resource waste and garbage increased, at the same time because of tinplate production and can process more complex, the tin case manufacturing cost is high, and the waste tank for scrap processing recovery value and low, further reducing the economic performance of tinplate cans, make its use value is low.


Polyester bottles and Tetra pak (paper packaging) have the advantages of cheap price, easy to carry, safe and convenient, so they occupy a large share of the beverage packaging container market in China.

However, there are serious drawbacks to both types of packaging, namely that they cannot be recycled and there is currently no more successful recycling technology, most of which is treated as garbage.


Although glass bottles have low cost of raw materials and can be recycled, their brittleness and high breakage rate indirectly increase the cost of drinks and bring inconvenience to transportation, storage, sales and carrying. Meanwhile, broken glass bottles also do harm to the environment.

Moreover, due to the poor thermal conductivity of glass bottles, high specific heat, poor thermal stability, in the packaging for high-temperature sterilization is not as fast as aluminum can heat transfer, therefore, time consuming, energy consumption.


In addition, the turnover of glass bottles, though mortgaged, is rather slow.

Generally, each glass bottle used in a beverage factory has three other glass bottles to keep it moving, and these bottles in the wholesale distribution system consume about 20 times as much as aluminum cans in the same system, and require a cumbersome washing and disinfection process before filling.


2. Save transportation resources, energy, storage and transportation space.


When aluminum cans are used as packaging containers, the packaging weight only accounts for 5% of the total weight. However, when 300ml glass bottles are used to pack drinks, the weight of glass bottles accounts for 62% of the total weight, which consumes a lot of valuable transportation resources.

In addition, when transporting drinks with the same capacity, small and delicate aluminum cans can save 7 times of transportation space compared with glass bottles, that is, when transporting or storing drinks with the same capacity, if aluminum cans need a piece of cart or a warehouse, glass bottles need at least 3 times;

Moreover, when the empty bottle is returned to the beverage bottling plant, the occupied vehicle and inventory space will not change.

UBC, on the other hand, takes up a lot less space (14% of the bottle's volume) because it can be squashed and packed.
